At just twenty years old, Canadian pianist Ryan Zhu boasts a sixteen-year musical journey, captivating audiences across diverse concert stages with his extensive repertoire. His triumph at the 2023 Juilliard School Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition marked a milestone, featuring him in a gala concert broadcasted on WQXR and securing a full tuition scholarship at Juilliard for the 2023-24 academic year.

Named the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s Emerging Young Artist in February 2023, Ryan collaborated with Charles Richard Hamelin, dazzling audiences with his virtuosity. He earned accolades such as CBC Classical’s “30 Under 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians” in 2021 and clinched second place at the Juilliard School Mieczyslaw Munz Piano Competition in 2022.

Ryan’s musical journey includes appearances at esteemed festivals like the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival Spring Workshop and the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival. Notable performances include solo recitals and collaborations with renowned orchestras like the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra.

Currently pursuing his undergraduate degree at Juilliard under the guidance of Robert McDonald and Stephen Hough, Ryan has honed his skills under esteemed mentors like Mira Yevtich and Michelle Mares.
