Born in 1994, Yun Wei started her study of piano at the age of 6 in Hunan China. She graduated from the attached middle school and high school of the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. During that time, Yun studied with Man Wu, Xiao-feng Zheng and Chu-fang Huang. She then went on to study at The Juilliard School studying with Robert McDonald.

During her years in Wuhan Conservatory of Music, Yun participated in the Second National KAWAI Piano Competition and won the first place in the Group of Adolescent Professionals. In August 2007, she won Third Place in the “Pan-Pacific Piano Competition & Sino-U.S. Youth Summer Camp” sponsored by the Sino-American Culture Association. In October 2007, she won the First Place in the Helen Cup Fourth Chinese Pieces Piano Competition. In May 2009, she was the First Prize winner of the Ameri-China International Music Foundation 2009 First Annual Elite Audition. In the summer of 2010, she won the Piano Texas concerto competition. In 2011, she was the winner of the Ensemble 212 Young Artist Competition. In 2012, she was the prize winner of the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition. She has played in places such as Paul Hall at the Juilliard School, Merkin Hall, and Carneigie Weill Hall.
