The Leeds International Piano Competition is very pleased to announce a new partnership with our Global Ambassador, Lang Lang, and the Lang Lang International Music Foundation.

As part of the partnership, the Competition will welcome three of the Foundation’s Young Scholars to Leeds in 2018 to perform at the prestigious Howard Assembly Room as part of the inaugural Leeds Piano Festival.

The partnership promises to further our efforts to inspire the next generation of pianists and music audiences, and extend opportunities both in the UK and worldwide for the very best young pianists to perform and develop their talent.

“The Leeds International Piano Competition is delighted to partner with the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. Both organisations have a shared passion for educating, inspiring and motivating the next generation of pianists and classical music lovers and aim to support talented young pianists in their professional development. As a first stage in this new and exciting partnership, three of the Lang Lang Young Scholars – exceptional young pianists from around the world who are personally selected and mentored by Lang Lang – will visit Leeds in May 2018 to give a recital at the Howard Assembly Room as part of the Leeds Piano Festival. They will also be involved in Education and Learning work in the Leeds and Yorkshire area and in collaboration with Wigmore Hall in London”.

“The Leeds is entering a new phase of its history and redefining what a music competition can offer young performers. It shares my passion for nurturing extraordinary young talent and reaching out to encourage kids to engage in music. I am delighted to be Global Ambassador for the Leeds International Piano Competition and very excited for the new partnership with the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. I sincerely hope that together we can create wonderful opportunities for a new generation of pianists and music lovers.”
