Since winning the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition in such a spectacular way, also taking the Audience Prize and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Award, Alim’s career has rocketed, with appearances with the RLPO, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the RCM Orchestra under Sir Antonio Pappano, as well as debuts at Wigmore Hall, Bath MozartFest, Southbank Centre, and the 2022 BBC Proms. We’re looking forward to Alim’s return to Leeds with this exciting programme.

Following the huge success of this new initiative in 2021/22, we once again bring some of the world’s greatest pianists to The Venue, Leeds Conservatoire across the autumn and winter months. They are a truly international group, from Argentina, France, Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel and Georgia, and the repertoire is a very rich mix of great masterpieces, with threads of Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, and Liszt running through the season. Three of the musicians featured are at the forefront of a very exciting younger generation of pianists, including the 2021 competition winner Alim Beisembayev.
