Historic Keyboard Instruments: The Cobbe Collection
Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, Parkinson Court
University of Leeds, LS2 9JT
Imagine seeing and hearing the actual pianos owned and played by Haydn and Chopin… These are just two examples of the several remarkable instruments you will have the opportunity to experience at The Leeds this year.
These unique instruments are part of the Cobbe Collection, the largest group assembled anywhere of tangible and audible links with the musical minds of the past.
All are maintained in playing order, allowing us to hear the actual sounds that inspired musicians for centuries.
The Collection is based at Hatchlands in Surrey, and its owner, Alec Cobbe, has carefully selected a group of instruments to bring up for us to enjoy at The Leeds. Alec is the expert musical guide on the hour-long tour.
Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 September. One-hour guided visits at 10.30am, 11.45am, 2.00pm, 3.15pm and 4.30pm. £15
