This song is based on the First Movement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor. A concerto is a piece of music for orchestra and a solo instrument, but when you watch the film of Count Me In you will see two pianos on stage and no sign of an orchestra at all! During the show the audience and Tim join forces to become the orchestra, so that Alexandra Dariescu can play the Grieg concerto. When we sing we use all parts of our brains at the same time, increasing neuroplasticity – the brain’s ability to adapt and change over time – and supporting memory and speech. Learning this song is a wonderful way to absorb Grieg’s melodies and make sure this beautiful piece of music stays with us forever.
