From Friday 18 September 2009 for six weeks, on BBC4,   Huw Edwards introduced a performance by each of the finalists, who played their chosen concerto alongside the Halle Orchestra, conducted by Sir Mark Elder. Included profiles of the key personalities by Clemency Burton-Hill, background information on the three-yearly contest first staged in 1961, and analysis by pianist Cristina Ortiz.
